Sustainability is at the Core of What We Do

There cannot be tourism without tourists. While that might be obvious, the same principle can be used when it comes to sustainability. Without the active participation of the traveler, there will be no sustainability. All of our actions bear consequences, which is why every one of us has to make a conscious decision towards a more sustainable future. That is the same reason for us to incorporate sustainability into every detail when we’re planning your Vietnam trip. For example, we have measured the impact of all of our tours and attributed a Sustainability Score to each of them.

Our mission:

Improving living conditions in Vietnam through developing and promoting sustainable tourism.

For us at INDO-PACIFIC, sustainability is at the heart of operations and you will find that it is integrated into everything we do. It starts with the small things – like switching off the lights, picking biodegradable packaging for our guests’ snacks, or using double-sided printing mode – and it extends to immersing our guests into the Vietnamese culture, up close, maybe even forming global friendships, but most importantly creating a positive impact.

We implement a variety of Travelife–certified, globally accepted sustainability practices, and even go beyond. These include measures for our internal processes, like fair treatment of our employees and recycling, as well as the fact that all of our staff members are informed of our sustainability policies and act accordingly.

Rural communities and families are our highlights. They are the true richness of Vietnam and we work shoulder to shoulder to provide them with additional incomes and, at the same time, offer alternative experiences to our travelers.

Also, we contribute to the preservation of local culturally-, historically-, archaeologically-, and spiritually-significant sites. It is our goal to give our guests and future generations the purest, most authentic experience possible.

This is what we do in order to achieve that goal:

Our Promise And Action

  • We only choose partners that align with our sustainability philosophy and implement sustainable methods. These are regularly monitored by us. Each partner has to comply with all national standard laws and use adequate measures against corruption, inequality, child sexual exploitation, and other criteria within the supply chain, otherwise we will terminate the contract.
  • We integrate as many sustainable transportation methods as possible and advise our guests on the best options to keep CO2 emissions down.
  • We prefer accommodations that: (1) Employ local communities and are locally owned and managed; (2) Comply with sustainability and quality standards; and (3) Are transparent about their sustainable measures.
  • We do not offer any excursions that could harm people, wildlife or nature, or are culturally and socially unacceptable. Our guides are skilled to guide you in cultural, ecologically sensitive, and heritage sites.
  • We prefer to work with locals, whether it is our guides or our drivers. Of course, they have also been trained in sustainable practices!
  • We choose destinations on the basis that they are not impacted negatively by tourism and can be reached by more sustainable means of transport.
These measures are just a fraction of what we do to minimize negative impacts and improve the life of the locals, who are our friends, and we would like them to become friends with our guests as well. Keeping in mind that they invite us into their home, so we should honor their culture and living space.
